Description

This beautiful piece of Sycamore was a pleasure to turn. The wood cut smoothly on the lathe, allowing me to watch its flowing grain and warm, natural color variations emerge as I shaped the bowl.

I hand-turned the bowl on a wood lathe, carefully developing its broad rim, shallow profile, and gently curved shape to highlight the beauty within the wood. I left the bowl slightly thicker to give it a substantial, reassuring feel when held. A raised foot completes the profile, while decorative concentric rings add a finishing detail to the underside.

The finished bowl can serve as a functional piece or as a decorative accent. Its generous, open shape is well suited to serving nuts, crackers, or other dry snacks, while its distinctive grain makes it equally appealing on display. It is finished with food-safe Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil and Walrus Oil Wood Wax, which protect and condition the wood while enhancing its natural grain and coloration.
